Spindle Roughing Gouge

The Hamlet Craft Tools Spindle Roughing Gouge is used for taking the corners off uneven and square stock, leaving it round and ready for further turning. It will also make initial shaping cuts removing waste quickly and efficiently.

This fine turning tool, featuring a High Speed Steel blade, combines traditional handcrafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment to deliver the design and edge retention properties demanded by woodturners of today.

The blade is carefully forged, hardened and tempered, and then hardness tested to guarantee edge retention.

The Hamlet Craft Tools Spindle Roughing Gouge is available in the below sizes:

  • HCT063 - 1/2" (13mm) with 10" handle
  • HCT064 - 3/4" (20mm) with 10" handle
  • HCT065 - 1 1/4" (32mm) with 14" handle
  • HCT066 - 1 3/4" (45mm) with 16" handle

The tool has a Hamlet brand stained beech handle and is finished with a brass ferrule.
