Masterflute Gouge

The Hamlet Craft Tools Masterflute Gouge features a parabolic 'masterflute' profile and is available with either a standard or fingernail grind. The parabolic shape allows large cuts to be made when the tool is turned to one side and shallower cuts when the cut is produced from the bottom of the flute giving more versatility with one tool.

This fine turning tool, featuring a High Speed Steel blade, combines traditional handcrafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment to deliver the design and edge retention properties demanded by woodturners of today.

The blade is carefully forged, hardened and tempered, and then hardness tested to guarantee edge retention.

The Hamlet Craft Tools Masterflute Gouge is available in the below sizes:

  • HCT150 - 3/8" (10mm) with 16" handle - 1/2" Bar Stock
  • HCT150A - 3/8" (10mm) Fingernail Grind with 16" handle - 1/2" Bar Stock
  • HCT151 - 1/2" (13mm) with 16" handle - 5/8" Bar Stock
  • HCT152 - 1/2" (13mm) Fingernail Grind with 16" handle - 5/8" Bar Stock

The tool has a Hamlet brand stained beech handle and is finished with a brass ferrule.
