Hamlet Craft Tools Glenn Lucas M42 Finishing Bowl Gouge

The Hamlet Craft Tools Glenn Lucas M42 Finishing Bowl Gouge was designed to Glenn's specifications for refining and making fine finishing cuts on the inside and outside of bowls and platters. The gouge has a swept back profile with a 45 degree double bevel signature grind, which makes push cuts and dragging shear cuts a breeze while leaving an exceptionally fine surface. It also has a masterflute parabolic profile (the only flute profile on the Glenn Lucas gouges) for easier sharpening and improved chip clearance. This tool will achieve a better finish than the ⅝” bowl gouge (GL4) but won’t reach the bottom interior of a bowl. The ½” bottom finishing bowl gouge (GL6) picks up where this tool cannot reach.

This fine turning tool, featuring an M42 High Speed Steel blade, combines traditional handcrafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment to deliver the design and edge retention properties demanded by woodturners of today. The blade is carefully forged, hardened and triple-tempered, and then hardness tested to guarantee edge retention.

The Hamlet Craft Tools Glenn Lucas M42 Finishing Bowl Gouge is available in the below sizes:

• M42GL5 - 3/8" (10mm) with 16" handle - 1/2" Bar Stock
• M42GL5S - 1/4" (6mm) with 14" handle - 3/8" Bar Stock

The tool has a Hamlet Glenn Lucas brand ash handle and features a solid brass ferrule.
