Oval Skew Chisel

The Hamlet Craft Tools Oval Skew Chisel is used on spindle work and is an extremely versatile tool, used for planing, cutting beads, V cuts and cleanly cutting the ends of spindles. Oval section skews are easier to use and offer enhanced sensitivity and precise handling. The oval sides are designed to move easier on the tool rest, producing a fine finish without the fear of catching.

This fine turning tool, featuring a High Speed Steel blade, combines traditional handcrafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment to deliver the design and edge retention properties demanded by woodturners of today.

The blade is carefully forged, hardened and tempered, and then hardness tested to guarantee edge retention.

The Hamlet Craft Tools Oval Skew Chisel is available in the below sizes:

  • HCT096 - 1/2" (13mm) with 10" handle
  • HCT097 - 3/4" (12mm) with 10" handle
  • HCT098 - 1" (20mm) with 10" handle
  • HCT099 - 1 1/4" (32mm) with 14" handle

The tool has a Hamlet brand stained beech handle and is finished with a brass ferrule.
