Escoulen Bedan

The Diamic by Henry Taylor Tools Escoulen Bedan is a traditional spindle turning tool designed to cut convex shapes efficiently and smoothly. This French-style bedan, made popular by the acclaimed turner Jean-Francois Escoulen, is specifically designed to be used with the bevel facing upward.

This fine turning tool, featuring a High Speed Steel blade, combines traditional handcrafting and forging skills with modern heat treatment and finishing techniques to deliver the design, finish, and edge retention properties demanded by woodturners of today.

The blade is carefully forged, hardened and tempered, and then hardness tested to guarantee edge retention.

The Diamic by Henry Taylor Tools Escoulen Bedan is available in the below sizes:

  • HS171 - 5x9mm with 10" handle
  • HS172 - 10x10mm with 11.5" handle
  • HS173 - 12x12mm with 11.5" handle

The tool has a Henry Taylor Diamic brand stained beech handle and is finished with a brass ferrule.
